Version: 1.3.2 (using KDE KDE 3.2.3) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux I have a font family comprising at least a normal and a bold version of the font. In the font selection dialog all version can be selected and are used correctly by konsole. However, if I choose the normal version I would expect the bold version to be used for bold text (like in man pages or if exlicitely switched on via escape sequences). Konsole does *not* use the bold version, but instead renders my normal font twice, with a horizontal offset of one pixel. This looks like bold, but the original bold font version is much nice. Proposed solution: Just use bold font version directly if they are available. Maybe this should be configurable.
Bold fonts seem to render properly in KDE 3.5.x for me, can you confirm whether it looks right for you?
I rechecked with konsole version 1.6.2 in KDE version 3.5.2. No change here. I did not say, there is no boldification. It is just that the bold font version is not used if available.
Will fix in the KDE 4 series.
Fixed in KDE 4, use normal Qt text rendering facilities to render bold text. Looks much better than bold text in KDE 3's Konsole and avoids clipping the right-edge of characters.
