Description Luke-Jr 2004-08-05 05:04:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.92)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

When I add tasks or calendar items to the IMAP groupware thing, they appear in their correct folders in Mail, and in Tasks/Calendar areas, but upon restarting Kontact, the Tasks/Calendar screens do not show them. They continue to appear in their Mail folders.

Since 2004-07-08 the summary uses the same timezone settings like KOrganizer

How is this related to this bug?

I've installed Kontact from Gentoo packages too (version 3.4.1) and the bug is still present. When I add some contact into IMAP folder it does not show in the contact list (restart does not help) - but it is stored on the server. I can see it in that IMAP folder.

Moreover when I create some new item in Journal/Tasks/Calendar category a warning dialog appears, that the item cannot be stored (Není možné uložit Todo do "test" - in Czech). But it is actually stored...

Same problem with KDE 3.4.2 on Gentoo x86 and amd64. Tested with courier-imap ans cyrus imap. No more idea...

Reopening, as this seems to be still an issue (I can reproduce it).

I think it was just closed by mistake.

Hi,

it sucks in 3.4 but works now in the upcoming 3.5.

Ciao,
Tobias

Test result in 3.5 alpha1: Same problem with the old 3.4 config (user account hast 8 Identities, 2 IMAP Account and 8 POP3 Accounts). But with a new user (first logon KDE 3.5, 1 Identity, 1 IMAP Account) its different. The Contacts, Events ands Tasks are loaded sometimes and sometimes not. And sometimes the contacts are loaded after a visit the Contact folder in the Mail view.

I use kdewallet to save the passwords. IMAP without SSL

Do you need more informations? Which? I can send the debug output, but only with mail, as long as the debug output contains personal informations (Name of the loaded contact for example).

Update: a "rm /home/norbert/.kde3.5/share/apps/kmail/imap/.1192794122.directory/.INBOX.directory/Contacts" and "touch /home/norbert/.kde3.5/share/apps/kmail/imap/.1192794122.directory/.INBOX.directory/Contacts"
enforce after a restart of kontact the message:
"The index of folder 'Contacts' seems to be out of date. To prevent message corruption the index will be regenerated. As a result deleted messages might reappear and status flags might be lost.
Please read the corresponding entry in the FAQ section of the manual of KMail for information about how to prevent this problem from happening again."
Now I go into the Contacts folder for reload. Now I see all my contacts until next start.

It still doesn't work.. exactly the same errors - saving works (but gives an error message saying it didn't work, in the Calendar module) but on a restart, the items aren't shown, until I disable the resources and enable them again. This is in KDE 3.5.4 with Kubuntu packages.
Comment 9 Arne Schmitz 2006-11-20 20:37:45 UTC
I can confirm Philipp's observation. Saving calendars results in an error message.

One more thing: Contacts saved on my GMX IMAP server do not reappear after restart of Kontact either. They are STILL on the IMAP server, I can view them. but not in KAdressbook! Something is severly broken here.

I am using KDE 3.5.5 on OpenSUSE and also on Debian Testing.
Comment 10 Arne Schmitz 2006-11-20 20:39:20 UTC
Oh, needless to say that I think this bug should be reopened. IMAP resources are very flaky on 3.5.5
Comment 11 matt 2006-12-14 20:33:02 UTC
KDE 3.5.5 on Kubuntu exhibits this behavior *again*. It got fixed, and now it's broken again.

Please resolve quickly! You all have done such great work that I've focused my daily work around Kontact.

Thank you very much!
Matt
