Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources When i transfer a file from a local network (100Mbps) via http, the speed i get with konqueror is much slower than the one i get with wget. For instance with wget i download a file of 45 Mbytes at about 10.8MB/s while with konqueror i can't go faster than about 5MB/s. When i check processes with top, konqueror eats 30% of the cpu and 2 kdeinit eat respectively 10% and 5% (AthlonXP@1250MHz). The rest of the CPU is eaten by system and wait (0% idle). With wget the kernel stays idle about 15%. Of course the load on the network was nil when i did the tests. I don't know if this is more a bug or a wish, but i'd like konqueror to go faster at downloading local files. It is probably a very low priority bug but i filled it in case a bored developper would come across and produce a patch. :) Anyway, thank you very much for all the good work which permits me to have great tools :)) P.S : if the fam daemon is running, it eats a lot of CPU while tranfering the file and the speed drops to 2MB/s with konqueror.
I suppose that the problem is in kio/http.
