Version: 3.2.3 (using KDE KDE 3.2.3) Installed from: FreeBSD Ports OS: FreeBSD When I mute the volume with the kmix applet, then power off and start X/kde again, the sound will be muted (though kmix doesn't show it muted) and changing the volume in kmix won't turn sound on. The only way I've found to get the sound back is to start xmms, go into the settings and change, "volume controls master not PCM" and turn up the volume in XMMS. Then everything is back to normal (sliding the volume control in kmix changes the sound volume again).
Volumes are not saved by the KMix Panel Applet. You can manually save the volumes by starting a "konsole" and issue the following command: kmixctrl --save After that you will see that when you log out and login again, that the volumes will be restored. Please try and report back. I am sorry to have this point missed in the documentation. It might also be a good idea for you to upgrade to KDE3.3, as it ships KMix2.1, which fixes some more problems regarding the volume restoring.
No feedback from bug reporter, so it is most likely fixed. The save-volume-by-applet issue is still not there, but this is also an existing wish, so we don't need to have this bug report open forever. Closing bug report. Chris
