Description alan cocks 2004-07-12 14:35:41 UTC
Version: v0.5 (using KDE 3.2.1, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5-7.95-default

Device description of 2nd Hard Drive is incorrect number

It is shown as /dev/hdb2 and should be
/dev/hdb1

It is the second HD and is unmounted at present, after having its previous 2 partitions deleted using Systemrescue CD (from iso download)

Suse yast sees it apparently correctly as
hdb1 9.5Gb Linux Native (is ext3 from using Systemrescue CD)
The drive is only 9.5Gb size and the single partition is, I believe, using the complete drive.

More information:
The previous information applied when although yast showed it correctly
as hdb1, it was at that time not shown as mounted by yast. I had not
done anything to cause it to mount afaik.

However, I noticed that it was being indicated in konquerer (as with
suse prof 9.1, with updates) within the file system. Am new to linux,
but I would only have expected to see it as 'data1' (I had not chosen
this name, but it is ok) if it was mounted?

However, after I used yast to declare a mount point
/data1
It was then shown as mounted by yast.

and went back to user then I looked at
System>File System>KDiskFree
then it was indicated correctly.
