Description Felix Kurth 2004-07-10 23:08:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.91)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.3.3 20040412 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.3-r6, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS: Irix

1.)
When i start konqueror in web-browser mode, with no start page,
(empty page, also no blue welcome screen) and then typing somthing in the google-search bar, then hiting enter, nothing happens.
I have to load a site first, after that googling will work.

2.)
When typing german umlauts in the google seaech bar, the wrong query gets evalutated, example: typing in
"Bürgernetz"
becomes the query:
http://www.google.com/search?q=B%FCrgernetz&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
This is wrong.
the correkt on should be:
http://www.google.com/search?q=B%C3%BCrgernetz&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

The first bug you mention was fixed a while ago.

Concerning the second complaint, if I try searching for the Bürgernetz, it searches for the second URL you mentioned. Maybe it's an error in your locale configuration.

I see the second issue too. KDE 3.3 Suse RPMs suse 9.0.

Konqueror does:
http://www.google.de/search?q=ferienh%E4user%20nordsee&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

whereas it should be:
http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&ie=UTF-8&q=ferienh%C3%A4user+nordsee&spell=1

What should be wrong with the system? I do not have any problems with umlauts in other applications.

I have the same probleme with kde4 now. kde 3.5.7 worked fine on my machine. (Gentoo) when I type "testä testü testö" in kde4 konqueror location bar (I set default search engine to google) it generates this query:

http://www.google.de/search?q=test%EF%BF%BD+test%EF%BF%BD+test%EF%BF%BD&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

I tested that issue with a kubuntu kde4 from a friend and he has the same issue.
