Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) Installed from: Slackware Packages It would be nice to have a command line option when starting konsole to open the session in an existing konsole, as it is difficult to make keyboard shortcuts to do so at the moment. Currently i am managing this via dcop `dcop | grep konsole | tail -n 1` konsole newSession "SessionName" but it would be easier if this functionality was built in.
What do you want to do? To open a new session in the konsole that you are currently using you can use: dcop $KONSOLE_DCOP newSession "Session name"
No I was thinking of something more along the lines of the "Open as tab in existing konqueror when URL is called externally". That is, when you open a new konsole it will open in an existing konsole if one exists, otherwise in a new window.
A good idea actually, this would reduce the amount of konsole on my desktop atleast;-)
You want konsole to perhaps/configurable be an unique application, like KMail? See #79243
Yes precisely. That would do the job nicely. I'll add a vote to that bug as well.

Duplicate of another report, although this one does mention having a command-line option which the other does not. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 79243 ***
