Description Harry Mangalam 2004-06-01 19:51:02 UTC
Version: 1.3.1 (using KDE 3.2.1, (testing/unstable))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.25-1-686-smp

when changing the tab name in Konsole (by dblclk or rightclk), the dialog pane should capture the keyboard focus so that the user can just type in the different name without mousing over to the window. apps like xv will do this when a new window opens that requires user input to do something. Even if the mouse cursor is not on the input window, it will capture keystrokes immediately after the panel opens.

Incidentally, this error reporting method is easily the best I've ever seen for any application or suite. Congrats!! Long live KDE!!

The dialog pane does get keyboard focus here.

Are you using a different window manager?
What focus policy do you use?
Comment 2 Harry Mangalam 2004-06-02 17:41:57 UTC
Hi there,

I'm using KDE 3.2 (Debian Sid)

My focus policy was: Focus under Mouse and got the described behavior. When I
changed it to 'Focus Follows Mouse', it works as I requested and you describe.
It also works when the setting is: Focus Strictly under Mouse.

Having read the descriptions of these, I see that my original setting was not
optimal.

Thanks for the speedy response and helpful comment.

Since I typically have 2-4 konsole windows open with 4-10 shells in each, this
is a very useful bit of info.

Thanks very much
Harry

KWin bug.
Comment 5 Jekyll Wu 2011-10-20 12:05:09 UTC
This report is quite old and I do not see where the problem is with konsole-2.7.2
Comment 6 Harry Mangalam 2011-10-20 14:56:44 UTC
Not only was it old, I think it was incorrect or at least not quite
correct - it would work correctly, but depended on the right mouse
setting or something similar.

Please remove this..
