Description Jussi Ruokomaki 2004-05-31 11:19:10 UTC
Version: 3.2.2-6.0.1.kde Red Hat (using KDE 3.2.2-7.0.1.kde, Fedora Core release 1 (Yarrow))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031022 (Red Hat Linux 3.3.2-1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22-1.2174.nptl_37.rhfc1.atsmp

Whenever the user marks text in a text field (<input type="text">) or textarea the browsers freezes for about five seconds.

For example
- clicking somewhere in the text field or
- moving cursor or
- trying to mark characters after the text of the text field (-> no text marked)
do NOT freeze the browser. The freezing happens only if the text (or part of it) gets marked (i.e. background color changes etc).

One more thing. Marking has to be done by mouse. If the user marks text with SHIFT key down everything works just fine.
