Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc-2.95.3 OS: Linux Feed archives can grow huge in no time - it would be great to have them gzip'ed (bzip2'ed), especially for those feeds with lots of updates and full-length posts.
Is some kind of expiration (see report 82132) not enough for you?
What I'd really like to have is an archive of important items, as seen in eventwatcher (http://eventwatcher.sf.net/). For pack rats like me, who store their email archives for years to come, this is a must. I understand that huge archive may impact start-up time and memory usage, but that was a feature I need most - no artsy-fartsy interfaces, no advanced features, just let me keep an archive of infinite length and search through it once in a while.
The metakit backend reduced the size of the archives - I don't think we need further compression.
