Description Munzir Taha 2004-05-19 13:31:07 UTC
Version: KMail
Version 1.6.1 (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
OS: Linux

I typed some Arabic characters in the composer and saved them on the drafts folder. Now, this same message in the Message Preview Pane shows differently. I will attach two png files to demonstrate this. Look at the first character and the last character on each line.

It seems Arabic with harakat is very buggy in Qt-apps. Now, I believe this bug's component should be changed to qt-copy (how?).

Another example, just copy this line of text in a composer in kmail and you won't see it!!

لِينوكس ولغة الضّاد لينوكس ولغة الضّاد لينوكس ولغة الضّاد لينوكس ولغة الضّاد لّ

Also, copy this random text full of harakat in a composer and save it to the draft box to see its preview:

عَعَعَعَعَعَعَعَعَعَعَ
بَبَبَبَبَبَبَبَبَبَبَبَ
يَيَيَيَيَيَيَيَيَيَيَيَيَ

Some letters would change!!

Those letters should be connected. Now konqueror display them with last letter disconnected and come in the beginning!! Another bug related to qt or khtml.

Also if I tried to select any word or group of letters while in the draft I can't!!

This is fixed now. I have filed more than 36 arabic-related bugs to Qt4 and can no longer generate those errors.

For example:
Arabic issue #4: Arabic letters disappear when diacritics are used in QLabel, QTextEdit and QLineEdit
