Description John Belmonte 2004-05-14 18:52:46 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

In the component chooser, the custom email client supports various parameters (%t, %s, etc.) which are expanded to values parsed from the mailto URL.

Serveral email clients, including all mozilla-compatible clients, must have the complete URL supplied to them (e.g., "mozilla -compose <url>"). This means that the individual parameters provided by KDE must be pieced back together into a URL.

The component chooser should provide a parameter for the original mailto URL (e.g. %u).

As a workaround you may use a script like the one attached to this bug: http://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=658 (for sylpheed). It should be trivial to modify it for other mailers.

I imagine this is still valid for KDE4 too?

Just leave out any placeholder and KDE4 will append the full mailto: url instead.

So for claws-mail simply specify:

claws-mail --compose

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Kcontrol has been replaced by System Settings in Plasma. Please give the latest version of that a try, and open a new bug in "systemsettings" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
