Description Asem Hassan 2004-05-13 00:10:23 UTC
Version: 0.8.0 (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

These problem occurs with the MSN plugin.
when any of my buddylist whom has a very long nickname
login I directly get disconnected.
It happens in both ways meaning that if I login while
that long-nickname-fellow is online I get disconnected
almost instantly. Actually,I get connected just for
a fraction of a second where I can even see who is online
and how is not and then I get disconnected.
I have tested that situation and I am dead sure that
I get disconnected because of this reason.

I guess people with long names has also non-latin1 char.

theses char are bad encoded by kopete, wich escape too much chars, making the name too long and so the server disconnect when we write back theses one.

I already fixed that by automaticaly snipping names when they are too long, but it seems that the msn server does not accept anymore the same size.

This will certenly be fixed in the next release.
