Description John Lederer 2004-05-11 17:58:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Allow the user to be able to enter directly a filter in the common ldap form, as an alternative to the simple "text/choose attribute in rollbox" currently used.

Many organization's LDAP servers store large numbers of entries, for instance my own organization has about 50K entries, and the local university has about 40K. A search that is a more sophisticated than just name is desirable for these large servers.

Having the option (perhaps an "advanced search" button)of entering a filter directly would allow advanced users greater flexibility.

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
