Description Peter Reinhart 2004-05-08 00:03:02 UTC
Version: 3.2.1 (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I'm not quite sure if this is just a problem of the German translation or all KMailCVT Outlook e-mail import dialgoues.

There, as a help text, it says that Outlook post boxes are usually stored at 'c:\[...]\Application Date\Identities\".

The typo is: It needs to say "Application Dat_a_" instead of "Application Dat_e_".

Thank you for your bug report.

You are right. This is a typo in the german translation.

I fixed it in cvs KDE_3_2_BRANCH. But I'm not sure if it
would be even better to change the path to the path used
in the german version of windows. I guess it's different
from the english version.

If anybody has access to a german version of windows,
please post the actual path to the outlook express data
as a comment to this BR.

From what I can remember the path is actually the same in the German Windows version!

OK, I had a look on a german Window XP installation and there are both "Anwendungsdaten" and "Application data". There's also an "Identities"
folder under "Anwendungsdaten" but none under "Application data" so I even
if it is no real evidence it strengthens my suspicion. We need a user with
a german OE installed to proof it.

http://www.uni-koeln.de/rrzk/mail/pfade.html

This german website states the path is "Anwendungsdaten" for OE.

Perhaps this depends on the localization of OE too. I'll change it
to "Anwendungsdaten" tomorrow if nobody objects.

BTW the mentioned path is wrong for most modern Windows installations anyway
as Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP work with user dependend folders. The mentioned path is only true for systems based on Windows 9x.

I forgot to mention: The system I was talking about uses Windows 98 SE. So it's probably better to say "Anwendungsdaten" which is what most KDE/Windows users will have.

I close this bug now since the original reported problem is fixed.

I sent a patch to the kmail developer list to give the user a hint
that the path depends on the windows version he uses. The patch
also adds a comment for translators that the given path name may
be different in a localized windows version.

Until now the patch is neither accepted nor did I get any comments
on it.
