Description Adrien de Sentenac 2004-04-29 20:26:49 UTC
Version: 2.0.1 (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Would it be possible to have musepack codec support in juk ?
It exists in xmms, and that's the only thing which forces me to have xmms around ;)

You can see the xmms-musepack page (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpegplus/) for more info, or this page : http://www.personal.uni-jena.de/~pfk/mpp/index2.html (don't know if it the official page or not).

Thanks,
Adrien de Sentenac

Sorry guys, but you shouldn't be confirming wishlist items for stuff that you don't work on.

Oop -- sorry, this happened automatically from the voting system (which is incorrect in my opinion for wishlist items, but I'll take it up with other folks)

The more that I look at this the more that I can say that it's not going to happen particularly soon. (Not to mention that this really isn't a JuK issue since it's not supporte by aRts, GStreamer or TagLib.)

Their sources don't even build on Linux out of the box; their licensing is ambiguous, the code is ugly and full of warnings. Basically it's going to be hard for anyone else to pick up their format and support it until they get things in order on their side. In this case the only reason that XMMS supports MPC is because they made the binaries themselves.

Moving to akodelib, since it is a library issue.

It is likely to be included in KDE 3.3, since I already have mpc-decoding working, but it will not be commited without a plugin-layer, which I am still working on.

Implemented and working fine. Look for it in KDE 3.3 beta 2
