Description Hans Dembinski 2004-04-29 02:20:42 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.2.2, (testing/unstable))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.2

Hi,

I think this is an arts problem, but it may be rather a problem of that mpeglib-plugin.
I don't know for sure, but since my upgrade from KDE 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 sound quality in Juk is rather bad, on some files there are quite hearable "plobbs", "quinks" and other artifacts while playing mp3 files, it sounds like hick ups.
I don't hear them with the gstreamer output plugin which I am forced to use because of this problem.
Since I've done nothing to the configuration in kcontrol I think this is a problem of the new version. After some testing I am also rather sure that it only happens with mp3 files, which strengthens my belief that the mpeglib-plugin causes the problem.

Greetings,
HD

I have this problem too. I recently upgraded to the Debian KDE 3.2.2 packages, and installed the package for the mpeglib-plugin to reduce ARTS CPU usage, as suggested by another bug. Unfortunately, this has caused strange "plobbs" and "quinks" when trying to play certain MP3 files.
