Description Jonas Jensen 2004-04-27 22:00:03 UTC
Version: 3.2.1 (using KDE 3.2.2, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-6mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.3-7mdk

I recently switched from Evolution to KOrganizer and imported my old calendar. All the imported events have the "Organizer" field (in the Attendees tab of "Edit Event") set to nothing. This causes KOrganizer to think that I am not the organizer of the event, so every change I make pops up the question "You are not the organizer of this event. Editing it will bring your calendar out of sync with the organizers calendar. Do you really want to edit it?".

I would expect KOrganizer either
1. Don't display this warning when the "Organizer" field is blank.
2. Set the "Organizer" field to myself when importing a calendar with blank "Organizer" fields.

This is very similar to my problem with KOrganizer. I sync using KPilot to my calendar, and any appointments are passed with the organizer "noone@nowhere" and I get the same editing comment: "You are not the organizer of this event. Editing it will bring your calendar out of sync with the organizers calendar. Do you really want to edit it?"

This is not necessary. If the field is blank, as it is when passing through my Handspring Edge, it should either be blank or "noone@nowhere" should be accepted for all users.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

The bug seems quite solved:

We have two different scenarios.

1) Event without partecipants: in this case the "organizer" field is not present on the ics from evolution so the field is empty on korganizer. It this case korganizer works right

2) Event with partecipants: in this case we have two sub-cases:

2.1) evolution "identity" setted like korganizer (same account name and email address)
In this case the "organizer" field is the same of korganizer and it manage it correctly.

2.2) evolution "identity" different from korganizer: in this case korganizer read the different name and alert that the organizer is not the current user, but you can anyway edit and save the event. It is not possible to change the organizer.

Probably this behaviour is right. Anyway I leave the last word to devs.

P.S: Eventually a new identity can be created on kmail, in this way the "organizer" field is editable again.

yep, FiNeX is correct. So i'm resolving.
