Description Michael Ebert 2004-04-22 10:21:48 UTC
Version:           0.11.6cvs (using KDE 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-6mdk)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.6.3-4mdk

usability: the translation cd-image to cd-Abbild is not good. I think image is a common word for this in germany.

german: Ich finde die Übersetzung CD-Abbild für CD-Image nicht gut. CD-Image ist ein gebräuchliches Wort, das nicht übersetzt werden muss.

Thank your for your bug report!

We are trying to translate for non-pc experts too. Even if "CD-Image" is
widely accepted in applications by german users it does not mean there's
no translation neccessary. There are very rare cases for not translating a
so called "common term". The only reason for this is when there's no german term available. This is not the case here.

An "Image" is exactly what we translate it to. It's an "Abbild". So there's
IMHO no reason to change the translation resp. leave it untranslated
even if this translation is not the one a common windows/linux/Mac user
would expect to see.

If there are no objections by the rest of the team I close this bugreport. If you really want to discuss this topic in depth please use the discussion
forum for the german translation team.
