Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 3.2.1, compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 [FreeBSD] 20031106 OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 5.2-CURRENT This seems to happen, when I'm replying to HTML messages, which are quoted by KMail. KMail launches my external editor (xterm -e vi), which starts misbehaving due to invisible characters. Today I took the trouble to analyze the file opened in the external editor using biew (a binary editor). It shows, the quotation symbol is the first on the line, than -- instead of the blank space, there are three symbols 0x9A. After that -- the visible sentence starts.
Does this problem still occur for you in the latest KMail?
Just checked with KDE-3.5.5. Yes, the problem is still here... And, actually, it is not limited to HTML messages. I just observed it replying to the usual TEXT/HTML combo (KMail shows the text part by default).
This also happens when copying and pasting something from the message.
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
