I would like this idea, too. I think it would be really useful to implement this along with #66908 (adding support for arbitrary metainformation to files) - I think the Gnome people are already working on something similar and I see huge potential for grouping files using metadata and dynamic queries instead of just using the directory structure. For people who manage a lot of user-created files, like I do, this could make finding information much easier.
I have found a description of what I mean here ( He calls it live search folders): http://arstechnica.com/paedia/f/finder/finder-5.html Below " Vapourware Legacy"

Bug 112252 suggests to use this feature for example for filter results.
All reports about file management mode reported against KDE 3 (konqueror) has been closed: konqueror in KDE 3 is no more developed and mantained. All bugs and wishes which could be interesting for Dolphin in KDE 4 (the new KDE file manager) has been collected into a specific list. Please try the new file manager before request new features and report bugs. Before submitting new reports check carefully the already opened KDE/Dolphin reports in order not to add duplicates. Many thanks. P.S: a very similar request has already been made for dolphin. no need to reopen this.
