cannot reliably be printed using Konqueror. I managed to get one print out from KPDFpart, but I cannot reproduce this. The CUPS error log reports:

I [10/Apr/2004:11:59:54 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID 1
9822) for job 63.
I [10/Apr/2004:11:59:54 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster (P
ID 19823) for job 63.
I [10/Apr/2004:11:59:54 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoprint
er (PID 19825) for job 63.
I [10/Apr/2004:11:59:54 +0100] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb (PID 19
826) for job 63.
W [10/Apr/2004:11:59:54 +0100] [Job 63] Media tray empty!
E [10/Apr/2004:11:59:55 +0100] [Job 63] Unable to get media size!
E [10/Apr/2004:11:59:55 +0100] [Job 63] Invalid printer settings!
E [10/Apr/2004:11:59:56 +0100] PID 19823 stopped with status 1!

but KDEprint DOES NOT report failure!

CUPS is correctly configured, and a simple lpr yprc_app_form.pdf succeeds.

Document no more available on that website.

Can you reproduce the problem with other documents?

Thanks

About the error reporting problem, this is because there's no easy way for kdeprint to know the job status. However, you can still check the job status in the job viewer.

For Cristian: cups-1.2 should come with a more elaborate notification mechanism that could be used in kdeprint (print status change, job status change...)

Michael.

Closing this bug report due to timeout on Cristian's request for more feedback [2005-09-24 05:48].

Reporter ("cb-kde@fish.zetnet.co.uk"), feel free to re-open it if this still does bug you when you use the current version of KDE (3.5.5).

We'll have to keep in mind to exploit in KDE4 the much improved notification system that CUPS 1.2.x provides for us now.

Closing old Resolved status bug.
