Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7) OS: Linux I have several (6) identities connecting to 6 different IMAP-accounts (all on the same Courier-IMAP server on the LAN). Authentication for imap is with SSL, smtp is with no-authentication. I'm having trouble with +/ 10 folders (out of the +/-100) in the mailaccounts. When I click these folders in the folderlist I get : 'connection to host xxx is broken'. At first I thought this had to do with the foldernames (being 'spam' and 'gentoo') but the other folders have random names that don't relate to anything that could possibly harm Kmail. These folders contain between 5 an 1300 e-mail-messages. I'm also using Thunderbird and Evolution to read these mailfolders. I don't have any of these problems so I guess it's clearly a Kmail-problem. I've had extensive logging on the mailserver but as far as I can tell there's no error-message whatsoever on the mailserver. I'm guessing this could have something to do with Kmail caching to much IMAP-connections. For example in Thunderbird there's the possibility to restrict the number of cached IMAP-connections..when I set this to 5 per mailbox I'm getting an equivalent error. When I'm using 2 caching connection there's no problem. Unfortunately, this 'feature' is missing in Kmail (or I am not seeing it).

I can't find any other problems on this (nearly new) hard-disc and I'm pretty sure this has either to do with a malfunction of Courier-IMAP or me accessing the folder with both KMail, Evolution and Thunderbird at the same time. I'm trying to narrow down the problem to the folders that are not corrupt and are not accesible by KMail. As soon as I have result (guess a day or two) I'll send an update. _________________________________________________________________ Vraag van de week: Welk soort project zou jij financieel ondersteunen? http://www.msn.be/microsoft/potential/default.asp
Created attachment 6503 [details] ethereal log same problem here : http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=256717 I use the same imap server (courier-imap from sid) I test with kmail 3.2.2 from debian sid and kmail 3.2.1 from suse 9.1 : same problem. No problem with mutt and mozilla-thunderbird. The problem occurs randomly and very often. I use /etc/passwd for authentification (no ldap, mysql or other) I don't use ssl. I join the ethereal log : this is just the part of the log when I get the error.
you can forget my report. Indeed, thunderbird and mutt have finally the same problem, but they doesn't display any error messages about it, so I didn't notice it immediatelly. The bug is with courier-imap.
Courier bug, according to the reporter.
