Description curtis 2004-04-04 19:10:28 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-3.3.2
OS: Linux

After finally getting flac support working in arts, I notice the ends of the songs are cut off by a few seconds. Also, the slider showing song position is stuck at the end and the time counter at the bottom increments by 3 seconds, showing a much higher time than is correct.

Both these problems don't seem to occur with an ogg file.

I'm using the xine_arts plugin included in the kdemultimedia package.

It could be problem with Xine, I have previously have had similar problems with older versions of xinelib.

How does the same file play in your installed version of Xine?

Tried xine 1_rc3 and it plays flacs fine. Same song in juk misses last few seconds. The amount missing varies each time from about 3-7 seconds.

However, I now think this is an arts problem, because artsplay <song>.flac cuts off the end as well. Man, what's up with arts? It constantly crashes, too.

Yes, I have discovered this problem. I can confirm that it seems to be a problem with any kde program that uses arts. juk , noatun, kaboodle all exhibit the error. The commandline tool (artsplay) does this too.

I have the same problem in KDE 3.2.2.

Bug 79831 appears to be similar.

I can reproduce this in KDE 3.2.2, losing up to ten seconds off the ends of songs. The files play just fine in XMMS using the aRts Output plugin v0.7.1

Fixed in KDE 3.3 with the new akode_artsplugin.
