Description rzei 2004-03-22 17:07:58 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.3.2
OS: Linux

I have set in my Web Browsing profile that I have only one row of toolbars. From left to right: Main toolbar | Location toolbar.

This works quite nicely, except for the times I start konqueror from commandline or K->Run command.. with a somewhat long url, which wouldn't fit unless the location bar is dropped to a new row.

I think that this behaviour is not what the user expects. It'd be better to simply show the beginning of the long url in the location bar, instead of first trying to move it to another row.

If the url is changed to a shorter one, a new page loaded and then I try to move the location bar where it's supposed to be, it won't align with Main toolbar, just want's to be below or above it. This at least sounds like buggy behaviour and _certainly NOT what the user would like to see_, in case you don't agree with me on the above point.

AFAIK IE simply shows only the beginning of the url if the url is longer than the textfields width, which again, is what the user expects instead of messing up the profile he/she just learned to set!

I think this is the same as bug 28331
