Description Robin Atwood 2004-03-19 01:19:36 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)

OS: Linux

Could someone fix javascript so I can logon on to http://www.tesco.com and do
my shopping! It never worked well (slow as a dog, frequent jams and hangs)
but now the entry fields on the login page have closed up. I'm having to
resort to Mozilla before I get hungry...

Robin, is this still an issue for you?

Very much so! Tesco redesigned their Grocery page recently and konqi
completely fails to build the "shopping basket". You can register and logon
and go shopping without actually buying anything if you want to test.

Cheers...

KDE 3.5.4 and the result is still the same, cannot put something in the shopping basket.

Ok, as requested, detailed steps as how to reproduce the problem:
1. Open http://tesco.com in konqueror
2. Click on Login/register in the top-right toolbar
3. Enter email address "robin@binro.org" and password "kde123"
4. Click on "Groceries" in the main toolbar
5. Another toolbar appears under the main one. Under "Browse Departments", click on "Food & Drink".
6. Choose something from the left pane, e.g., "Bakery & Cakes" -> "Bread - Rolls" -> "White Rolls".
7. From the centre pane, click on an "Add" button. The product should appear in the shopping basket in the right pane, but nothing happens.

Changing all the Javascript policies to "Allow" does not make any difference.

Confirmed for KDE 3.5.4. Works with firefox as expected.
Comment 7 Maksim Orlovich 2006-08-24 21:21:52 UTC
Please don't reassign stuff to KJS unless you actually analyzed it. khtml ecma is more likely to be right.
Comment 8 Stephen McCrea 2007-05-05 14:36:02 UTC
In addition to the problems mentioned above, try clicking on the "My Favourites" button. This should open in the main (central) frame but instead opens in the top frame which messes up the page, unfortunately. (I've just checked, and the "Grocery Home", "Food & Drink", and "House & Pet" buttons lead to similar behaviour.) PS I've had problems with this site when using Firefox too but never when using IE. Perhaps the site designers have "rigged" the site to only work properly with the latter.
Comment 9 Bram Schoenmakers 2008-04-13 21:52:14 UTC
There appear to be no problems with the site in KDE trunk (r796166).
Comment 10 Robin Atwood 2008-04-17 12:19:59 UTC
I just tried it again and you still cannot add items to the shopping basket.
Comment 11 Michael Leupold 2008-04-21 11:02:48 UTC
Adding items to the shopping basket still doesn't work in 3.5.9. It's resolved in trunk r799198 however.

As this bug is fixed in recent releases it's being closed. Setting it to LATER because it does qualify for backporting to the 3.x branch.
