When creating a new subproject (sp), allow a short (user defined) description of this sp, e.g.

    sp: widgets, description: widgets subclassed from Qt

Display this description string as tooltip of the sp's item in automake manager. Use default behaviour (do nothing) when no description is given.

wontfix as we don't want to create our own "buildsystem". But you may do this in KDE4 with nepomuk to the subproject folders.
