Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) Installed from: RedHat RPMs Compiler: gcc 3.3.2-1 OS: Linux I found a similar (though not exactly so) bug on this subject that is closed. But since it is not an exact fit, here goes: Immediately following a recent upgrade from KDE 3.2.0 (RPM's, from ftp.kde.org or one of it's official mirrors) to KDE 3.2.1 (RPM's, also from ftp.kde.org or one of it's offcial mirrors) I lost icons in, so far, four applications - Bibletime, Krename, Kover and Krusader. The icons that I lost are the ones that compile and install with the above mentioned applications. The icons that the above mentioned applications use from KDE itself are all there. I tried recompiling and reinstalling 3 of the 4 mentioned applications, to see if that would fix the problem - no such luck. I also tried installing from RPM's for some of the above mentioned applications, no luck there either. It bears mentioning that all of the icons that are now missing Were Not missing before I upgraded to KDE 3.2.1. I noticed the absence of the icons almost immediately after upgrading. I'll restate that this way: 1. Under KDE 3.2.0, all icons display properly. 2. Updgrade to KDE 3.2.1, making no changes to the above mentioned applications, and icons that come from the applications dissapear. In case someone says this is a distribution issue, I must mention that the RPM's that I used to updgrade came from ftp.kde.org, not Fedora Core. In case someone further mentions that it is an issue with the applications themselves, I must ask, why did the icons work before I updgraded? In closing, here is a point that makes this issue different than the closest one that I found before submitting this: the only applications that are afflicted with this bug are KDE applications. There is not a non-KDE application among the ones that I have notices issues with so far.
OOps, one more thing: if this has already been fixed in the CVS, just let me know which module, and I'll gladly compile and install from that. I only want to help everyone concerned :)
I can confirm this with a fresh install of FC1, patched with all FC1 updates, and then upgraded directly to KDE 3.2.1. There's lots of icons missing in KDevelop amongst other applications. Fixed RPM's would really be appreciated.
I'm taking the liberty of adding another report on this from David Harel on the KDE list: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde&m=107920394202731&w=2

Thanks, David :) I do apologize for reporting this to KDE. I just assumed that since Fedora Core 1 does not appear to have any offical updates to KDE 3.2.1, and since I got the RPM's from ftp.kde.org, that it was a KDE issue. If anyone is interested, I Bugzilla'd this bug. You can find it here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=119144
I have to admit I am not sure I did right when voting for this bug. Apparently I made a mistake when I installing KDE 3.2.1. I thought I can use Fedora RPMs on a RedHat 9 machine. ( Until I realized that Fedora is not just a package selection, It is somewhat different ). I now am in the process of installing KDE from source code. It takes a long time to compile but the results are much better. I think, not sure though, that this installation will solve all the icons problems. The only thing I think should be taken care of is that there should be a noticeable notice regarding the incompatibility.
