Description Dan Bullok 2004-02-24 01:01:04 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

I uncheck "Automatically load images" on the "web behavior" configuration page. Images are not loaded, as one would expect. However, the alt text is not shown. In place of images, I just see blank areas. The alt text should be shown instead.
Comment 1 Dan Bullok 2004-05-14 02:49:33 UTC
Still broken in KDE 3.2.2
Comment 2 Michael Jahn 2004-09-10 02:27:46 UTC
Bug 87901 also suggests showing the border of images that are not loaded.
Comment 3 Allan Sandfeld 2005-01-08 13:26:39 UTC
Is this only a problem when "load images" have been disabled?
Comment 4 Dan Bullok 2005-01-08 17:32:21 UTC
Yes, this is only a problem when "autoload images" has been disabled.

I just noticed that this is a wishlist item, but it really isn't - it's a bug. Did someone change it to wishlist, or did I mistakenly give it wishlist status? Showing alt text when images are absent is part of the w3c standards, I think. It's an accessibility issue. I can't do page accessibility testing with konqueror without this feature.

I really want this feature because i disabled images so i load site faster, but i cannot see the alt text. For example open www.linux.org with elinks(a text mode browser) : you will see the alt and it is easy to browse the site, but in konqueror i have to guess :{(
