Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc 3.2.0 OS: Solaris It should be possible to adjust selection with Shift LeftClick like in Kate for example
Could you elaborate please. I tried messing around in Kate and I couldn't see what Shift-LMB did anything.
In kate, it's possible to make a selection and then if you Shift LeftClick outside the selection, the selection is extended to that point. It works for me in Solaris version and in MandrakeLinux version. I notice that it works also in konqueror, kmail, kedit, kwrite... In an xterm, it's possible to do the same thing with right click. In Konsole, Shift LeftClick does nothing and RightClick brings menu. In Konsole/xterm, very often, you need to make big selection. With extension of selection, you can select the beginning of your selection, then use scrollbar to go to the place where you want your selection to end and use extension of selection to complete selection.
You can do that now with the 'Set Selection End' in the RMB. Highlight a portion of where you want to start and then scroll up/down to where you want to stop the selection and then 'set selection end'

I like Konsole's method of doing this better. :-)
