Description Paul Hoepfner-Homme 2004-02-13 19:20:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.3.2 20040108 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r6, propolice-3.3-7)
OS: Linux

l.lunak@kde.org explained to me in bug #74759 how to turn off the automatic multimedia key functionality: "It's KMilo from kdeutils what has the multimedia keys associated. You can turn it off in Settings/KDE components/Services manager (or whatever are the exact English names)."

So I did that - I uncheked the "use" box beside KMilo and I also pressed the "Stop" button so it woudl stop running. After I did that, my keyboard no longer worked anywhere. Pressing the keys on my keyboard had no effect on the screen. Not even CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK worked. I had to restart X in order to get my keyboard to work again.

generic_module bug

I've just observed the very same behavior.

I think this was caused by kmilo not unregistering keyboard shortcuts if stopped. It should be fixed in KDE 3.5.9, so please try to reprodce it and report if it works or not.

Kmilo is gone, this should be closed now.
Comment 5 Christoph Feck 2011-09-15 18:51:54 UTC
KMilo is no longer maintained, marking all bugs accordingly.
