Description T Kleindienst 2004-02-12 09:32:12 UTC
Version: 3.2 (using KDE 3.2.0, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22

to add an attachment URI to a TODO, I have to drag'n'drop an icon to the "add URI dialog" or enter the compete URI by hand atm. This is a bit inconvenient I think. Would it be possible to replace the "add URI dialog" with the usual filesector?
I know it's breaking consistency, as you actually don't add the file but just the URI... but it's more convenient ;-)

At least it should be possible to drag'n'drop a file from kfm to the URI-list directly without the need to press "add"...

is this possible?
regards,
  Thomas

Actually, you can also attach other things to an event than files. In particular, you can attach anything that has a URI, like links to mail messages, links to persons in your addressbook, newsgroup postings, links to web pages (all these are already possible!).
So a file selector dialog doesn't make sense for most of these. Actually, it would indicate that you can only attach file names, which is absolutely not right.

Cheers,
Reinhold

O.k. valid point. Surely it does not make sense to limit it to files, but is there no possibility to combine it?
Proposal: Offer a file-selector next to the general add URI Dialog (which is only a lineedit anyway). If I choose the file-selector, I'll add the URI to the (local) file. With the general add URI dialog one may add the path to a website, an ftp-location or anything else...

Second, I think it may still proove useful to make the widget (list of already added URIs) aware of d'n'd. This way I could still drop a file from konqu on the list and it would add the URI to this file.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created

The "Add Attachment" dialog now has an "Open file dialog" button next to the Location field. Does that satisfy this wish?
