Description Dennis Nigbur 2004-02-06 16:54:42 UTC
Version: 3.2 (using KDE 3.2.0, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB-athlon

When saving a yearly recurring event (e.g. a birthday) as a template, it appears as if the date of the event were saved with it. Therefore, when trying to apply this template to a different date (birthday), the recurrence tab suggests recurrence on the wrong day of the year, with no option to change the recurrence date. This makes it necessary to save the event without recurrence, then open it again and set the yearly recurrence. It would be better if event templates with yearly recurrence did not save the date - otherwise one would need a separate template for every event!

Thanks!

I see the same problem with the KOrganizer 3.2 in the RPMs at ftp://mandrake.redbox.cz/people/bluehawk/kde32-92
(Cooker RPMs recompiled for Mandrake 9.2.) I see three weird things, but I think there may be two bugs.

Select File | New, then in the new calendar select March 14th 2004, then select Actions | New Event...

On the Edit Event dialog's General tab set, the event title to "Someone's birthday" and select "No time associated".

On the Recurrence tab select "Enable recurrence", recurrence rule "Yearly", and "No ending date". Note that the Recurrence Rule selected says "Recur on day 14 of March".

Click "Save as template...". Enter template name "brtdy" and click "OK".

Back in the Edit Event dialog, click "Cancel".

Back in the New Calendar window, click March 16 2004, then select Actions | New Event...

On the Edit Event dialog, click "Load Template..." and load "brtdy". Switch to the Recurrence tab.

Weirdness #1: the selected recurrence rule is "Recur on day 74 of the year", not "Recur on day 14 of March", which was what I saved. In a leap year there may be a difference.

Weirdness #2: there is a drop-down menu that lets me change the month to April, but no way to edit the date within the month.

Weirdness #3: the day with the month is 14, not 16.

I notice this bug's status is "unconfirmed". I just wanted to add additional confirmation. This thing drove me nuts for nearly half an hour. Truly bizarre and annoying behavior. I really think it should be moved from "wishlist" to "normal" at least.
