Description cryst 2004-02-02 00:48:47 UTC
Version: 3.0.0 (using KDE 3.2.0 RC1, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.1-mm4

In this version of kdevelop the shortcut's no longer work in the editor.

Things like home to move the beginning of the line, and end to move to the end.

Defining shortcuts make no difference. It's off in it's own world with a very basic set of keys definied, which I assume to be the default ones. (left arrow moves left, etc).

Some more info please. Like what editor plugin are you using? The "component" is set to "all editors" - have you tested with all?

The only specific cases you mention - home and end - work fine for me in katepart, and has done so for the past year. If, by some off chance, some editor shortcut is off, this is typically a bug in the editor component, unless we've seriously messed something up in kdevelop, which your "all editors" seems to suggest.

Anyway.. I'm kinda lost here. Under what conditions does this appear?

Sorry I didn't get an email from your response (or it was lost in the spam).

Is under the embedded editor. I tried to set Ctrl-Y as delete Line, Ctrl-T as delete word right. After saving it, none of the short cut keys worked. Even ones that I hadn't changed.

As far as other editors are concerned, they work the same as they used to. Ctrl-T switches letters, Ctrl-Y does nothing. It appears to be local to kdevelop.

Switching to Embedded Vim and restarting kdevelop resulted in blank edit windows. (no text, and you can't type).

The QT editor seems to be ok. (But you can't configure the keystrokes with it).

Hope this helps narrow it down.

After playing a bit, it appears that reassigning Ctrl-T to delete word Right is the culprit.

A clue may be that Ctrl-T is default for Transpose letters, which is the LAST thing on the list of shortcuts.

Just updated to version 3.0.3, same results.

So you're saying that if you do the exact same thing in KWrite or Kate, it works fine?
Comment 6 cryst 2004-05-16 17:19:53 UTC
Same problem there (kwrite). Are you saying I'm reporting this in the wrong place? If so, please tell me which project would be the most appropriate to report it to.

The editor in KDevelop is a plugin. The default editor plugin is the same as the default in KWrite, and is in fact the Kate editor.

If you have the problem in KWrite, the fault is (very likely) not with KDevelop.

Reassigning.
