Version: 1.5.4 (using KDE 3.1.5) Installed from: SuSE Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB-athlon At one of my local folders which is associated with a mailing list, I set up the expiry dates: read mail after 6 weeks. unread mail after 3 months. now, 10 weeks after the first mails (which I read), they are still in my local folder. its obviously a bug, or not?
What doesn't work? Does Folder->Expire not work? Or does message expiration on KMail exit not work?
sorry, I don't understand you. Maybe I misunderstand this feature? In my opinion, mails from this local folder which I already read, should be automatically deleted after 6 weeks, or not? But they are still in this local folder...
Yes, they are automatically deleted after 6 weeks. But only if you checked "Expire old messages" in the KMail configuration (in the last section which is either called "Folders" or "Misc"). If you don't quit KMail before you quit KDE then no expiration is performed.
thanks ingo! I don't check "Expire Old Messages" in the Konfiguration. Now it works - no bug! but nevertheless I have 2 wishes 1. can you popup a messagebox if the user configurate expire old messages at the folder list that he must set this option in the configuration dialog too? 2. in my opinion it would be better NOT to delete expired mails which marked with the green flag of an important message. bye harald
The second wish is a duplicate of another wish. About the first wish: I think it doesn't make much sense that the user has to enable message expiration at program exit. Furthermore we will most likely change this so that KMail expires messages in the background while it's running. So the first point will be fixed somehow in the future.
