This is the console output from Kopete while running an IRC.  The first message at 17:46 gave me the error:

An internal Kopete error occurred while parsing a message:
Transformed document is null!

And the actual message doesn't show up.  I'm connected through a LAN, however, I don't have this problem on other IRC clients or older versions of Kopete.
