Description sombragris 2004-01-23 12:54:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux

Hi,

First of all thanks for the wonderful work in KDE 3.2.

I'm running KDE 3.2.0rc1 on Slackware 9.1 using the contrib packages downloaded from the KDE ftp site.

I want to report that the Run Command (ALT+F2) dialog box is out of proportion. The lower border is too thick and stands out wasting screen real estate. This is important in lower resolutions, especially in laptops stuck with 800x600 flat panels, not to mention it is simply ugly.

The problem is new to 3.2.0rc1; I've been using Dobra Voda (beta2, 3.1.94 iirc) and this problem was *not* present.

Now, this problem is not apparent when using the default widget style & windec (i.e., plastik). But switch the style to something like light3rd, .Net or Windows9x and the windec to kde 1.x or Redmond and the problem is evident. The lateral borders are much thinner than the lower border.

I respectfully request that if possible, this could be corrected. I recognize this might sound even frivolous, but for people with a strong sense of proportion and aesthetics this could be important.

I appreciate all your hard work. Thanks for caring.

Yours,

Eduardo Sánchez

At the moment it seems that someone is changing the layout code daily. ;-|

Thanks for the comments. Stephan, would you escalate the bug as confirmed, if you deem it appropriate, please?

Thanks again,

Eduardo
Comment 5 Eduardo Robles Elvira 2004-05-05 08:18:48 UTC
I think we should confirm this problem, because although it didn't appear in KDE 3.2.1, I'm using KDE 3.2.2 and the Run Command shows the problem that Eduardo Sánchez mentions. Noone else have detected this error ? Perhaps it's spaniards related (one here!) :-).

BTW, If I click in "Options >>" button, the space wasted is re-used by the new widgets. If I clic back in "Options <<" to hide that widgets, then the space becomes wasted as always.

Eduardo, my namesake (lol), I think it's not related to the Spanish language in any way. I use the default english setup everyday, and my filing of the bug was related to the proportions of the Run Command box in that language setting.

I can additionally confirm the persistence of the problem in KDE 3.2.1 and 3.2.2.

I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks,

would anyone care to confirm this? I'm still having the bug in 3.2.2.
