Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux Just installed KDE 3.1.95 (SuSE 9.0 RPMs from SuSE) When I click icons in the file manager or on the desktop, the colors flip to horrible purple and green. Never had this before. Not even in KDE 3.1.5.
what did you do?! (no, I don't have that on 20040103 ;)

(no, I don't have that on 20040103 ;) Just installed KDE 3.1.95 (3.2 RC 1). That is likely newer than 20040103.

I can confirm this bug with this version, too. SUSE 9.0 x86 RPMs for KDE 3.1.95-0 which was released 01/20. I've been spending most of today trying different combinations of configurations and I can't get this fixed. As described above, if I select any icon on my desktop, what has historically been a semi-transparent shadowed square, I'm now viewing a square of purples and yellows. It kind of looks like a video gone bad. ;) In what seems like a related issue, my menu transparency ceased to work properly after this update. In 3.1.94 I was using a 'Software Blend' on my menus, but in 3.1.95 I'm seeing the colors described in our icon problem where my menus would normally be. Trying 'Software Tint' failed to work as well. I was however able to get them working via the 'Xrender Blend' but I assume that's because it's an external rendering lib.
There is a fix for this in HEAD which for whatever reason waits to be backported. http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-cvs&m=107470649217905&w=2
I need to convince Coolo that this is critical. Can someone please post a screenshot?
I can confirm this. It looks very strange. Same rpms - same effect. I tried to post a screenshot but i got an 'Software Error' page after posting multiple times...
Fixed ! The SuSE rpm kdelibs3-3.1.95-4.i586.rpm fixes this bug. I just installed it and it's all O.K :) Here is a link: ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.0/base/kdelibs3-3.1.95-4.i586.rpm
Created attachment 4317 [details] If this doesn't look critical... Beautiful screenshot. ;-(
Just backported the fix, actually. Good illustration, thanks
Ahrg! With Debian's recent kdelibs 3.2.3 package exactly this problem pops up again! A Debian specific bug or a regression in KDE?
