Description Peter Kirk 2004-01-20 18:58:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r3, propolice)
OS: Linux

Well,

since my soundcard can do hardware mixing fine, I have disabled the soundserver in the control centre of kde. But, everytime I start up kde (3.2.0-rc1, there was no option to specify rc1 through this wizard), my CPU usage goes 100% for maybe 10 secs, and then a window pops up telling me that the sound server died due to CPU overload.
Since I have no soundserver enabled - why does it even try to start it ?

Some information about my soundsystem (in case required):
Soundcard: SB Live!
using: Alsa, version 1.0.1
kernel: 2.6.1-rc1

Also note: this happend in beta2 also.
