Description Thomas Schönenberger 2004-01-15 23:41:37 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Debian stable Packages
Compiler: Debian stabil standard
OS: Linux

I installed a debian linux on a i386. It is a standart stabel system without any other backports. When I try to intall the KDE wiht the backport from the download.kde.org site I have this problem. The package kdebase has a dependance to libarts1, the package kdeaddons has a dependance to libarts but libarts1 has a conflict with libarts.

Please report Debian packging bugs to bugs.debian.org, not here.
Comment 2 Thomas Schönenberger 2004-01-16 09:44:32 UTC
Sorry for reopen this report.

The problem is not in the debian system, it is on the site download.kde.org. So it will not help me, if I send a report to bugs.debian.org.

The problem is, that the kde needs two packages. The names are libarts and libarts1. I think libarts is a official debain packages an it is necessary for the system. libarts1 is the kde packages.
Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2004-01-16 12:01:35 UTC
again: the debian packages aren't done by kde
Comment 4 Thomas Schönenberger 2004-01-16 14:58:06 UTC
Ok, but I found the name of the persen, who made the packages. It is Ralf Nolden, KDE <nolden@kde.org> and it looks like it is a person from the KDE-team

... but that does not invalidate the point. KDE does not provide packages, so bugs.kde.org is not the place to report packaging problems. You should report this problem to Ralf personally.
