Description Thomas Zander 2004-01-10 14:27:15 UTC
Version: 1.5.94 (using KDE 3.1.94 (CVS >= 20031206), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.0dell-optiplex

In a headerView (of an IMAP folder) I see an Receiver address being shown as:
Firstname Lastname \

When I click it the email is fetched and when it has been fully received the entry in the listview changes to:
Firstname Lastname (company...

The email viewer shows a 3th format of the same email:

"Firstname Lastname \(company \)" <email@foo.com>

Notice the backslashes and the quotes..

Please attach the email to this report gzip'ed.

In 1.6.2 this bug is still there. I might add that the company part () in the listview is only visible when that message in the listview has the focus. So it's there when you click the message and it dissappears when randomly clicking anywhere in the message or kmail.

But maybe this is by design to be able to see the whole name for longer names, but then it can stay visible when the message has the focus.

Comment 4 Tom Albers 2004-06-14 17:48:52 UTC
Oops, that should have been the other way around. The company name is only visible in the listview when the message does not have the focus. Sorry.
Comment 5 Tom Albers 2004-06-14 18:40:12 UTC
Did some testing and it seems to happen, when the sender has put his organization name into the from-field. The bug happens when the from-field is like:
From: "Tom Albers \(kde\)" <tomalbers@kde.nl>
and the organization-field is set as wel:
Organization: kde

It's kind of weird that the organization is in the from-field, probably coming from an adressbook or so. I can now imagen this bug is unsolvable/wontfix.

I tried editing the contact for myself. I put a string in the org field, and put the same string in parenthesis at the end of the name field. I sent myself an email, using this contact. The name display on the received email seems consistent in KMail 1.10.1
Comment 7 Michael Leupold 2008-11-23 22:36:31 UTC
I can no longer reproduce this on trunk r887937 either. I tried with all of the messagelist styles and all the header styles and I never get the backslash.
