Description M. Philippens 2004-01-04 16:33:12 UTC
Version: 1.3 Beta (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: GCC 3.3.1 (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux

When I have a translucent konsole ( Transparent, Dark Background schema ) with multiple sessions in it, most of them get screwed up when logging out of KDE and logging back in. Most of the times only one session is OK, the other sessions are not usable since everything you enter in it is superimposed on the data already available in it. The only way so fix this is to select a non Transparent schema and then reselect the Transparent schema.

Same happens for me, except that the tab that is selected as active when restarting KDE seems to be OK but all others have a picture that is cropped and tiled incorrectly.

I don't see the superimposed data the bug reporter talks about, but I definitely see the broken tiling behaviour.

What I see is this: I log in, konsole starts up from my previous session with multiple tabs open (since I live inside of konsole) using the Transparent Konsole schema. The active tab is all grey except for a small area in the top left which displays the background as it would normally, then it refreshes and is redrawn with the full screen as it should be. When I switch to other tabs, they have a tiled background, the image which is tiled being the same as the small area that was initially drawn on the active tab.

The strange thing is what happens to my fortune messages. On the active tab, they get shown after the refresh, so they are displayed as usual. On the non-active tabs which have the tiling, the fortunes have been displayed as if the terminal width was the same as the small tiled area.

Now, I imagine this description may be somewhat confusing, so I am including a small screen shot of one of the non-active tabs to try and show what I mean.

This is on debian unstable, konsole package version 4:3.2.1-1.

See my earlier comment for context.

I don't know about the original report, but the tiling and cropping described in the two comments from Jose Hernandez and Ralph Jenkin look very much like bug 71213. Both bugs have probably the same origin
Comment 5 Waldo Bastian 2004-05-24 18:09:41 UTC
Fixed for KDE 3.2.3
Comment 6 Ralph Jenkin 2004-08-16 14:34:56 UTC
Okay, so I finally have had a chance to test this with KDE 3.2.3 and even KDE 3.3.0 beta 2, and while I have to say that indeed the most annoying part of this bug has been fixed (the background tiling thing, though you can see the refresh that de-tiles, as it were), the only somewhat annoying part of the bug (any characters output before the terminal tab is activated wraps as if it were in a roughly 29x15 character terminal window) still persists.
