Version: 1.3 Beta (using KDE 3.1.94 (CVS >= 20031206), Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-2mdk) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-6mdk With new KDE's (3.1.93, 3.1.94) konsole (transparent bg) is VERY slow when it comes to redrawing and giving focus (and thus allowing writing/reading) when switching desktops. I have konsole on my second virtual desktop and i switch them very often. After switching desktops konsole freezes for as long as 10 seconds and only buffers my input. Probably it tries to redraw the transparent background. I use konsole with circa 10 tabs, all transparent. This problem was not an issue in 3.1.3 (3.1.4), i've used konsole also with 10 tabs, also tranparent. PS: - this behavior only happens when using transp. bg. - in 3.1.3, all was fine - unfortunately i have upgraded many other thing, not just kde, so i cannot be sure whether this is not a xfree issue - i do not want to disable transp., i have so many nice girs as wallpaper ;-) - plz do not make this a duplicate of bug 69640, it is not. I do not have problems with desptops or redrawing, just konsole.
Still there in 3.2 :-( why could it work in 3.1. Oh
Because for one terminal widget the performance problems of the transparency hack were not so obvious.
Not reproducible under KDE 3.5. Please reopen if still an issue.
I noticed this still in KDE 3.5.3, I'm not able yet to check for KDE 3.5.4 though.
I noticed another bug report about Konsole keeping a separate image in memory for each Konsole session. This is probably related to that. As I said, although I wasn't able to reproduce the problem here, I suspect that fixing the other problem will help.
