This is the backtrace. It was working fine but then the whole machine crashed and when it came back up I had this error with KMail. Everything else was working. I had to reinstall KMail to get it working again. This is a 9.1 Mandrake install however it seems to be everything BUT stable. It is likely I'll not be able to get this system back up and endup reinstalling the whole thing again. I'm now on the 6th time I've done just that.

Please upgrade to 3.1.4. The backtrace is unfortunately useless because it doesn't contain debug symbols.

OK, I've found a workaround.

I upgraded from MDK 9.2 to MDK 10, and KMail was crashing when trying to view emails.

This fixed it: I uninstalled the RPM, then did a locate to find everything that contained the word "kmail", and just deleted the whole lot of them.

Then reinstalled KMail. And it worked! :)

Still dunno why that was - I see there are quite a few references to this problem when I google for it ...
