Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc OS: Linux The tabs in the 3.2 I am running are extremely large with much wasted space. Please allow some form of minimizing this wasted space and some of us do not have high res screens and this makes using konsole difficult when tabs are enabled.
Use a style which draws smaller tabs. :-)
I tried different styles, but they all seem to have a large amount of space between the tab and the edge of the tab area. If it were just the tab's themselves it wouldn't be a problem, it's the slack space between the tab and the edge of the tab area that really causes the problem.
I cannot believe this is recorded as resolved as invalid, unless I am missing an obvious configuration setting. I have been using KDE as my prime enviroment for about a year, one of the best features for my usage is konsole, I run around 60 webservers and ancilliary machines and tend to keep windows open on about 20 of them at any one time. Until I had to reboot yesterday (first time in about 4 months) I had all 20 tabs visible across the bottom by removing the icons, the reboot has changed this, presumably as a reult of the apt-get upgrades I perform regularly to get the latest versions and security patches. I have no interest in flashing warnings etc in these boxes, I just want to be able to see all the tabs again. If I have missed how to make this happen with the new arrangements I would change my report to a failure in the help screens, if not it is still very much a wishlist item, just a simple hide icons option for the tabs would solve my problem.
A screenshot would be helpful. You can still remove the icons from the tabs.
comparison between 3.1.3 and 3.2.2: http://80.61.20.184/konsole.png note also that there is an unwanted border around the main window area. ("Show Frame" is Off.) This is even worse than the previous 2yr old bug. i personally think the new tabs are ugly and am not able to use konsole like this. As well as being unneccesarily big: -its overly fussy and inelegant. -it makes the bottom edge look crooked. -the current tab is not as easy to pick out from the rest. Subtle size and color variation is not as effective as highlighting with the Selection-Color thanks :-)
I don't quite get what you want. Comment #1 is valid, use different styles until you find one you like (or create a new one). Comment #5s point about current tab not easy to see, that is definately a style issue. I don't really understand comment #2. Comment #3: You can remove the icon from the tab, that bug was fixed a while ago. If you're really serious, create a mock-up of what you want... it is hard to understand what all the comments want... As far as the border, that is a well-known QT bug which KDE can't do anything about.
Created attachment 6682 [details] konsole tabbar with plastik style With icon, I have the current directory in the tab title.
