Version: 1.5.94 (3.2 beta 2) (using KDE KDE 3.1.94) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031022 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r3, propolice) OS: Linux 1. Go into 'Configure KMail->Appearance' and turn on 'Use Custom Colors'. 2. Choose a custom color for 'Normal Text' (Like blue!) 3. Turn off 'Use Custom Colors'. 4. In the main KMail window, click on the 'New Message' icon in the toolbar. 5. type some text. Result: Message text is still blue. (See attached screenshot) Expected Result: Message text should revert to default black color.

With the development version of KMail, I can confirm this is still the case. The custom colors will be used in the composer, it does not make a difference if you activate 'use custom colors' or not. I think when deactivating the 'use custom colors', the colors should be restored to the default KMail colors.
FWIW, I can reproduce in 3_4_BRANCH from a few days ago, and I'm told the bug is still there in HEAD.
Fixed in revision 511574, branches/KDE/3.5/kdepim/kmail/kmedit.cpp
Even though this was fixed for the "Normal text" colour setting, I have exactly the same problem for the "Quoted text - ..." colours. I'm assuming that my KDE version is newer than the revision at which the problem originally reported was said to be fixed in the previous comment? (I'm using KDE3.5.9) When I choose "Reply..." on a message, the quoted text is displayed with the colour chosen for "Quoted text - ...", even though I have turned "Custom colours" off.
