Description Amit Shah 2003-12-01 13:26:27 UTC
Version: 1.5.93 (using KDE 3.1.93 (3.2 beta 1), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Debian)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.0-test11

The taskbar entry doesn't flash on arrival of new mail.

"Flash taskbar entry"? What should that be? Could this be a bad translation? The only options for the system tray applet are:
"Always show system tray"
"Show system tray on new mail"

I guess you are using the second option. What exactly doesn't work with this option?
Comment 2 Paul Sprakes 2003-12-01 15:01:56 UTC
There is an option in system notifications to flash the taskbar entry of kmail upon receipt of new emails. I have just tried it out and it works for me (updated cvs).

I see. I didn't knew about this new system notification feature. Amit, do you have this problem with Kontact or also with the standalone KMail?

I can confirm Paul's observation that it works with the current CVS version of KMail (not running in Kontact).

Works with beta2. However, I would also like a notification that is shown when new mail is arrived in inbox. Other mails are generally routed to folders (which are usually from mailing lists). It's the mails which are just put in the inbox and which don't match any filters are important and need attention.

For folder-dependant new mail notification there's already a feature request.
