Description shift 2003-11-14 01:04:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.1.93 (CVS >= 20031028), SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.1 (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-116-smp-SHiFT

Well -- i tried kopete from KDE 3.2 beta 1 and was little dissapointed.

once again support for encodings in ICQ part was broken.
(seems like it worked fine in 0.6 or about)

Well -- i hardly found the option to change the encoding for each user individually,
but i have too long Contact List, shared by several clients from different work locations, that share this contact list!

May be there should be some sort of "default" encoding for my whole ICQ contact? it will be aplied by default to all my people from my contact list, and in some rare cases -- i can change that encoding for that individual user!
or better -- to have an encoding selection control right in the chat window!

Look at the LICQ or SIM -- SIM (0.8.3) is the best ICQ client for linux that i know -- i never had those recoding problems with it!
i never had any sort of encoding troubles with LICQ either, but it is buggy by itself ;-)

(when posting it, i was aware of both 63464 and 43701)

After KDE 3.2
Comment 2 Stefan Gehn 2003-11-25 10:16:07 UTC
These two are closely related to eachother, I have to fix everything at once anyway to make the system working so I'm obsoleting this bugreport now.
The per-account encoding combobox will get added as soon as kde 3.2 is out, I already have it working locally.

Hmm, if you use the same string as the IRC plugin uses it's not breaking the
freeze, right?

If they are all in kopete.pot, it's fine.
