Description Ian 2003-10-29 04:34:08 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

This may end up being two separate wishlists in one...

I prefer to not have a preview pane, but rather simply a listing of email in a folder. Presently, I can remove the preview area by just dragging the bar down to the bottom of Kmail where the preview is, and see a longer listing of mail.

But this poses a problem when clicking through emails, especially encrypted email - if I inadvertently highlight one, then I'm asked for my passphrase.

In lieu of a preview pane, I prefer a separate Message Viewer Window. Kmail provides this, but there is no functionality with this - I would like to be able to either use a keyboard command or a menu item to reply, forward, move, save as, etc., directly inside the Message Viewer Window. At the moment, the message viewer window just sits there with the message in it, looking nice and pretty - but doesn't allow me to do much other than just read it.

So my wish is to have the option of eliminating the preview pane all together, and being able to open messages in individual viewer windows, and from there, be able to reply, forward, save as, move, print, etc.

This has been implemented and will be possible in kmail 1.6 which will be part
of kde 3.2

The external message viewer has gained a lot of functionality in kmail 1.6 as
well. Please check it out and open a new wishlist bug if you still find
something specific missing.
