Installed from:    compiled sources
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2.2
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.22

I use the passive popup to tell me when people sign on.  Channels aren't people :P

This has been verry longely discussed in the contactlist in his time. 
 
anyway, this specific problem has not been reveled. 
what could we do now? 
 
I have an idea. having a bool silent in our API to change the status. 
that would solve the initial statusset problem and this... 
any comment?

Without looking at the actual API change itself, at least s/bool/enum/.

While granted, channels aren't people. They are always online. :)

Precisely, but I get messages announcing their online presence whenever I sign 
on to an IRC network.  I think that this is really a duplicate of the bug 
complaining of being notified when signing on to an account.  I'll try to hunt 
it up later, or feel free to mark this as duplicate if you know it offhand.
